Introducing the Most popular personality type!

Since I spend most of my ‘online time’ searching about different personality types (I’m a sucker for anything related to psychology, I’ve seen a lot of different personality type discussions. People are always talking about their Myers-Briggs type, or their Enneagram type, or their Hogwarts House.

I thought it would be a fun exercise to talk about MBTI in a more mature and observation-based personality typing system.

Starting with the most popular personality type! and I don’t mean by this the most liked type or most common. I’ll be referring to the most talked about personality type. So without further ado, let me introduce you to…

The most popular personality type!

It’s the INFP.

This personality type is all over the internet! You can find them on every social media platform, in every type of online community, and in real life too. They’re always talking about their feelings, their values, and their creative ideas.

They have one of the most active MBTI subreddit commutes with over 178k members(r/infp), and they’re always discussing their type with other personality types. They’re also very active on Tumblr, where they often post about social justice issues and their love for all things creative.

It has never been hard for me finding information about INFPs because they are just so open about themselves online. Especially when it comes to defending their personality type against stereotypes and misconceptions spread online about them being fragile and too idealistic.

Whenever I want to know more about this personality type, all I have to do is type “INFP” into a search engine and I’m met with a wealth of detailed articles, blog posts, and real user forum discussions(The most informative!).

A few key facts about INFPs

2nd Most popular personality type

Okey, I though I’d through in a second most popular type for good measure.

The second most talked about personality type is the INFJ.

As contradictory as this may seem to a lot of you (excluding INFJs), seeing as they’re considered the rarest personality type, they’re actually very much present online.

I find that INFJs are vocal about their personality type and their love for all things creative on Tumblr and in certain online communities.

Unlike INFPs though, they’re a little aggressive and more sarcastic when it comes to self-defense against misconceptions.

INFJs (online) come across as very intense and serious, and they’re open about their dark side and the different ways they deal with it. They’re also notorious for their door slam and how they tend to distance themselves from people who don’t understand them.

BUT- they’re also very caring and compassionate. They’re the type of people who will go out of their way to help others, even if they don’t know them that well.

A few key facts about INFJs

  • They make up around 2% of the total US population
  • They’re introverted, intuitive, feeling individuals.
  • They’re often considered the empaths of the Myers-Briggs world.
  • They have rich inner worlds and are very creative.
  • Their active subreddit (r/infj)

CONCLUSION

So there you have it! The two most popular personality types according to my completely unscientific research. Do you agree with this list? Let me know in the comments below!

Sarra is a behavioral science student and HS science teacher ( also a cat mom! ) who obsesses over typing people but can't seem to type her own self. Let's just say that for the time being, she's a cross between an INFJ and INFP!
